OPENING THE DANCE FLOOR STUDIO ATTIC The only entrance to the attic is the skylight in the floor, which is currently open. You could jump down to get to the dance studio from here. It occurs to you that it's rather odd to find a skylight leading to an attic instead of leading to the open sky, but then again it occurs to you that many things about this house are rather odd. The attic is filled with stacks of old objects. Your eye is particularly drawn to an old black trunk and a statue of an elephant. You see a walk-in wardrobe to the east, which appears to be filled with stage costumes. >x stack You spend some time looking through the stacks of old objects, but most of it is not very interesting. Definitely all large objects, nothing small here. This looks like the sort of place where Martin's mother would put extra pieces of furniture if she happened to find them lying around the house and didn't have a use for them downstairs. You start to feel a bit dizzy (perhaps from the dust?), so you decide to stop looking through the stacks. You tell yourself that you can always come back to the attic after a stretch of time, perhaps when you have a better idea about what to look for. >x black trunk The old black trunk is currently closed. There are three latches on the trunk, a green latch, a white latch, and a red latch. >x green latch The green latch is closed. Written below the green latch is the word "MOSES". The latch has a slight smell to it. >open green latch You can't figure out how to open the green latch. There must be some sort of trick to it. You notice that the latch has a slight smell to it. >smell green latch The green latch smells faintly like pine trees. >smell white latch The white latch has a faint coconut scent. >smell red latch The red latch smells faintly like roses. >x white elephant It's a statue of a white elephant. The trunk of the elephant looks rubbery and flexible. >x white trunk The trunk of the white elephant statue looks rubbery and flexible. >give bottle to white trunk The elephant takes the bottle of hair conditioner, opens it, and twirls it around a bit. The elephant tosses it in the air, sniffs deeply, and catches it. Then the elephant tosses the bottle of hair conditioner onto the old black trunk. The white latch pops open. >e WARDROBE The wardrobe is filled with stage and dance costumes. As you look at all of the costumes you find that you can't resist walking further east. That's very odd, you think, since you're pretty sure that the wardrobe isn't deep enough for you to go any farther east. But you keep walking. After a while you see some bright lights filtering through the costumes. Walking towards the lights, you push through the last of the costumes and find yourself on a giant stage! ------------- Press space bar to continue ----------------- The brightly lit stage seems to extend indefinitely in all directions. And standing in front of you is Dolly Levi! "Hello Dolly," you say to her, wishing that you had thought to bring her some kind of a gift, like chocolate covered peanuts. Unshelled, the expensive kind. But Dolly seems to be reading your mind, and she assures you that she desires no gift other than your own charming presence. She wants to teach you how to tap dance! Starting with the basics, she teaches you how to step, flap, hop, and shuffle. Then she teaches you the Dolly Levi special version of the Shuffle-Off-To-Buffalo (flap, shuffle, hop), and the Time Step (shuffle, hop, step, flap, step). She makes you practice everything until you can do it backwards and forwards. ------------- Press space bar to continue ----------------- Then you hear the applause of a huge audience. Is that for you? Dolly wraps her red feather boa around your neck and kisses you on the cheek. "So long dearie," she says to you, taking her business card from your hand. Suddenly Dolly is gone and you find yourself stumbling westward out of the wardrobe and back into the attic. The red feather boa vanishes at your touch. ATTIC On the black trunk you see a bottle of hair conditioner. >d DANCE STUDIO You see a coat rack here. You see Agador-Spartacus in the back half of the living room. He's wagging his tail. >flap FL-AP! You see Agador-Spartacus in the back half of the living room. He's wagging his tail. >shuffle SHUF-FLE! >hop HOP! You've done a Shuffle-Off-To-Buffalo: flap, shuffle, hop. Suddenly the east wall closes. Something is happening to the floor. A large parquet square is slowly rising until it is slightly higher that the rest of the floor. Then the square begins to rotate sideways, sliding to reveal a large square hole in the floor. It's a secret trap door! You see stairs leading downwards.
